reviving an old thread but I have a question for keepers...i read that they are aggressive which is a shock for me since I've always assumed (Wrongly) they were like severums in temperment.

Now that I realize all these post about aggression...my question is, how aggressive are they? Can they hang with Festae in a 225?

I have 2 in a 240 with a 10" male festae and bass around the same size. Nothing messes with them. They are also the largest fish in the tank

I find that they can hold their own against other fish their size, one on one and especially when they've paired (two against one). Mine (I presently have three pairs, two in the same 150G and one in a 180G) tended to be more aggressive when they were younger and smaller (<8"), but as they've matured they have become more mellow. I have them in with a mix of other SA cichlids (geos, sevs, kraussi, Uaru, Aequidens) and they really don't pay much attention to them. Most of the aggression is conspecific. For example, when a pair formed, the third Parrot was relentlessly pursued to the point that I had to remove her.
