Mine is healing up from a beating it took from a female Crenicichla sveni . So I think I might have a male psittacus growing out. He is about 5" right now and pretty shy, just starting to get some of the color in him. At what point does the aggression I keep hearing about kick in? He has got a male gold sev and a tiger oscar in the tank with him. They are all in a 210g. At this point I am thinking of getting rid of it because it is such a timid fish.

I would say 7 to 8 inches ime. I kept my pair separated for months until the female put some size on. I had a 10 inch male last year that was really mean, but my atabapo 1 pikes got tired of is crap and killed him.

Thanks for the info. I just added a hoga to the tank thats only about 2" so if the psittacus does not get too aggressive and kill it there will be a fish in the tank to keep it in check.

I've been longing for som of these for a while. Has anyone kept them with uaru? I have a 180g with 3 uaru and 23 clown loach, is the addition of a few juveniles with the view to getting a pair possible?
