yes they are to be removed soon. thanks for the advise
i have to admit though...i've always been fascinated by the fly river turtles. they just dont mix well w/ most fish.

hmmm. this guy's fine w the gars. maybe cause he's grown up w them
There is no such thing as a turtle that is fine with fish.. Just because it has not happened yet does not make them predictable. Do not fool yourself on this matter or it will cost you...Ask a certian friend of mine about his "calm" PNT and it's interactions with couple thousand dollar gold gar if you need varification about just how trustworthy a turtle can be...

you're right. but he doesn't do any damage. and he's getting out at the end of the month or so, when my bro gets the pond done.

no it was a lfs keeper, not one of those lfsppl though, i really respect and trust this guy. but when i change it to bioballs, what happens to all the crap and gunk that the wool collects? dont they clog up the balls and kill the BB?

for the rest, Noted. thanks for the great help!
all the other crap that the wool collects should be changed out every month with the wool (the wool essentially just serves as a pre-filter). other stuff will be broken down. as for the FRT, yeah, i would move him ASAP...as richard said, gars and turtles don't mix...at least if you want to keep your fish (not just gars) in good condition.--

give everything some time to settle. none of these changes are going to happen instantly. are you still removing the gator gar this weekend? i think after you remove the gator and turtle plus continue doing heavy water changes things will balance out. youre def. going in the right direction now.
