Having trouble getting my Convict cichlids to breed

I don't see any orange spangles on any bellies, yet. Are you SURE you have a male and a female?

Ya you can't see it in the picture but the bigger one has a bright orange stomach and yellow tinted fins, it's 100% a female
 
have you tried neglecting them? Or throwing them into a large predatory tank as food? This always worked for me...

All kidding aside they just need more time. Just keep power feeding and it should happen given a few more weeks/months. The male is a young cub and doesn't know how to approach the seasoned cougar.

that cougar was in a 125g with a raging male Dovii and was untouchable so I believe it. You think if I changed the layout and put him and her in it? I don't see why not but he (Dovii)could eat them but I have a lot of rock I could set up to prevent my Dovii from reaching them. I have seen it happen before so I don't know honestly. It almost seemed like my wolf Cichlid tried breeding with my convict female. He would always flare up and display his brightest colors
