Hello, so far week one the fish is still very shy and wont eat infront of me, but I guess thats normal lol I took a better look at him the other day and took a look at the pics posted above and I would say its a toss up between Nosferatu bartoni and Nandopsus haitiensus but only time will tell I guess lol

You have an interesting conundrum going on.
Young haitiensus prefer warm water temps, in the 80sF.
Depending on what area it came from, bartoni come from an area in Mexico where waters can be quite cool, high 60s, low 70s.
Neither play well with others, both are omnivores and when "older" prefer a large portion of veggies in their diet in the form of algae (spirulina pellets)
A male haitiensus will easily hit 15 or more inches, so need a large tank, minimum 6ft.
Bartoni are smaller and usually go less than 10".
My haitiensus pair made a 150 gal look tiny.

My bartoni pair did fine with a few others in a 125.

thank you for the helpful information, for now i put the tiny fish in a 10 gallon aquarium with and aquaclear 30 filter on it, and the temp. is at about 78, once i know what he or she is I'll upgrade the tank, i heard small fish like this get confident faster being in a smaller tank.

If it's a Haitiensis, I've grown juveniles up in groups in reasonable size tanks, and individual juveniles in small tanks. Ive found individual fish in small tanks do get confident faster and grow faster. A stress free environment with no chasing and competition from siblings makes for a good strong healthy fish. Nothing wrong with growing on future monster fish in small tanks as long as you keep on top of the upgrade situation.
I hope it's a Haitiensis lol one of my favourites
