Let us know if there are available juveniles for sale :)
It's no surprise to me that people are having trouble with the health of the fry. I have culled every batch of mine so far because they are weak and drop like flies after about two weeks. I think I know why, and I'm going to be testing that out on the next spawn. If it turns out to be right, I'll document it here.

Despite all the problems everyone is having I'm getting 4x of them from Wet Spot.

I'll plan to treat in small 10G QT tank for a month and monitor closely. I actually have never had an outbreak of any disease before. I have API Melafix and Seachem Paraguard available. Any hints or suggestions?

Thank you :)

Hi All,

good news for fans of Heros severus in germany/austria. :)

My H. severus "Casiquiare/Curare" spawned several times a few month ago and now i distributed lots of fry among some friends and sending some fish to a german trader this week. I hope it helps to keep this species in the hobby...

Btw - i never had any losses of the fry! H. severus can easily be raised - as all other Heros species. Just keep them warm (28-30 °C), they just need lots of brine shrimps and frequent water changes. I keep the adults as well as the fry at pH = 7.4, 11 ° GH, 7 ° KH and about 380-400 microS/cm.

cheers, Joerg

It's that happy time again.

They're sharing a tank with a group of Uaru fernandezyepezi so they're in pure RO water. The water hardness is negligible and pH is in the 4s. I've never spawned or raised fry in that pH so I'm curious to see how it differs...
Gorgeous! How big are the parents and how big is your tank?
