from what I know, there is no way for a regular US hobbyist to legally obtain an asain arowana. Not sure if there are any wormholes. I wondering if the aro was gotten before the ban in the states. Of course i'm no expert in US law. :/

naw this was not legally obtain my dad got it for me when i was younger but my uncles still get the super red and the chili red but my 200G not set up yet but when it does trust me a super red or the chili red is most DEF on the list ;]

Don't make too big of a stir if you do go through with permit less keeping. Like posting it on a site like this is a no-no haha unless your using some sort of hardware to mask your IP

It isn't smart to have post illegal activity on this website. It seems that you are bragging that you are breaking an obvious law. Not sure if you're trolling or not.

Is there really no way to own them? I know if your keeping it for display or scientific purpose you can get a permit. An LFS near me keeps a big old black pirahna as a display fish.

You've got a better chance of legally owning a lion or an orca than you do an Asian arowana. The FWS has the capacity to issue permits, but they have an internal policy not to.

Bragging about your illegally kept Asian arowana while you're posting from Slidell, Louisiana isn't the best idea on a website that is routinely prowled by FWS officers. The furlough won't last forever.

Yeah, if you really do own one. This is NOT the place to post about it. Can get you in serious trouble

Sorry to drop in guys, but what is really the reason behind the ban? If the Asian Arowanas are farm-bred, then there would be no import/export of wild endangered species, right? The supply over here is in abundance, to the point that anyone who buys a large aquarium will get a golden aro for half the price!

Why the ban? Two words: "American bureaucracy".
