Its hot here now, according to our weather service it will be 42C by 5 p.m then a big storm will hit and it will be 22C by 6pm!
In the good old days i would be nude in my garden smoking a joint just as the storm hit but my wife doesnt appreciate such behaviour unfortunately..

Man, it's amazing how inoffensive snowstorms can be when I read about them happening to other people! :)

Yesterday the weather gurus were telling us we were supposed to have high winds, gusting to 60kph. The forecast continued to blather on about that until almost suppertime...despite the fact that we were experiencing that prairie rarity of calm air. It was so beautifully calm...although cold at -25C...that I was outside practicing my flycasting on the unbroken snow alongside my driveway...fully clothed, not @Ogertron3000 -style :). At my flycasting skill level, literally any breath of wind is a potential disaster, but yesterday the line was looping and flowing with an almost dreamlike perfection. If only I could do that on the water...:)

Today, temperatures are much higher, around -5C, but winds are back in the 40kph range gusting to 60kph. IMHO, -5C with high winds is far more uncomfortable than -25C in still air. Snow is now coming down in typical Manitoba fashion, i.e. sideways. We aren't scheduled to get much of it, but it will drift and accumulate as it always does. I won't be flycasting anytime soon...

We were planning on going icefishing tomorrow, but the roads into the icehut village likely won't be plowed in time, so...nope...

Well I am very jealous of you guys and your snow.
Its 38C today and the next 3 days too, then we have a "cool change"where the temp drops to 29C for 1 day then back to mid 30s again.
Overnight lows range from 21C to 25C, its going to be a very uncomfortable week, lots of bushfires kicking off too.
This is the time of year i really hate, constantly hot or freezing in aircon and everyone has trouble sleeping so bad moods all round.
As a sales rep its really nasty, i drive to visit a customer with the air con cooling my car, i visit them for 30mins then jump into the car for the trip to the next one and its like an oven, i just get it cooled to a comfortable level as i pull into the car park of the next customer and repeat 6 or 7 times a day.

Cold Lake, with a population of more than 17,000 people, is sitting at a bone-chilling -39°C, while a flurry of other Alberta spots landed in the top five, including Slave Lake in third place at a numbing -38°C, while Grande Prairie sat at -38°C.

Thankfully, all a bit north of me. Currently -26C here, -34C with wind chill.
