How do you harden soft water?

Are both these tanks in the same house and using the same water supply? If they are, what is different between them, substrate, driftwood or ? Also, is the pH the same on both tanks?
Something just doesn't sound right if everything is the same. Are you using test strips or a liquid test kit to test your water?

I'm using test trips. There in nothing in the new tank, the old tank ask some fake plants and a little drift wood but I took it out about a week ago. They are using the same water supply. But the old tank gotten hard overtime, I did not do anything to change the hardness. The pH is about the same.
You might want to consider investing in a liquid test kit. I don't understand how there can be a difference in hardness of the water between the 2 tanks.

If it were me i would do a 25% water change on the old tank, and the next day do a 50% water change that way they would be already acclimatised to the new water conditions. save some of your old water to help cyle the new tank.
