water is soft. freezing will turn it to ice. ice is hard

on a serious note it's physically impossible to have 80 alkalinity but 0 hardness. hardness is a total measure of all dissolved metal ions (calcium, magnesium, sodium) while alkalinity is how many of those have a corresponding CaC03 anion attached to them.


get a proper test kit strips are never accurate.
