Hello all, first time poster, great topic!

AQ 500 have had several for over 7 years no problems...

My Python hose attachement, have replaced the hose to a common graden hose but the adapter is still going! Sees daily use for just about 5 years!

Just a recommendation, I would trash the common garden hose. They are not food grade, and often have harmful heavy metals in them, as well as many algaecides, and mildewcides. The RV hoses, white with blue stripe, are meant to be used to supply water for human consumption, and are less likely to introduce something into your aquarium.

I agree 100%. I run dual AquaClears on each of my 55gal and 75gal.

My favorite longest lasting filters are aquaclear 500s. For the $$, they turn a LOT of water, and last forever. Never had a cannister last that long without something breaking.

I've had a Mag-Drive pump (inline fed from a wet/dry sump) thats been running for 12 years continously. It pushes the water through a rainbow aquatics(pentair) heater module and up another 48" back into the tank. The heater in the module is a visitherm which is also 12 years old. Ordinarily the heater would have leaked and gone bad years ago but the heater module setup prevents this. This setup has served me well.

When i turned 12 I got the 29 gallon walmart start up kit to replace my at capacity 10G. The Teta 30-60 power HOB that came with it is still running perfectly. No Bio wheel, and cartridges are harder to find anywhere BUT walmart (shudder). Ill be 21 in July, shes got almost a decade under her belt i suppose.

I have 3 of those 30-60's with double filters that I've ran for atleast 7yrs. You can still buy the cartridges at wallmart but I only use these for a little extra filtration about 3or 4yrs. ago I started collecting the emporer 400's with the bio-wheels and they are awesome with no problems

I've been using my AquaClear 100's (old models) since the late 90's with NO issues. I love the brand and the only negative is that occaisionally, the impeller gets jammed on restart and I have to poke a plastic stirrer or other narrow, non-metallic object down there to get it going again. I have heard this same issue from others, but it's a minor thing.

I also have a Fluval Canister and a bunch of Emperor's at this point, but those have only been running a year or so. No issues so far though.

i must say i love Eheim the best i have had a couple for years .. the only thing i hate is somtimes it's hard to get the impella shaft.... cuz they can break from time to time... but i order a few just in case

Looks like my supreme aquamaster is holding the record since 78 with a 6 year break:headbang2
My other one was even older junked it last year still running just got too darn loud.

Too bad they stopped making them.Best filter ever made

I just got into the hobby with a long break.

I am currently using Tetra Whisper Second Nature HOB one is their wet dry and the other is a #1 or 2 and these have been in use for years prior since my days in high school and 10 years later I am back and had to clean the crud off of them.

I couldn't stand to throw them away cause I know I will pick up the hobby again.

I have an Aquaclear 500 over 10 years old now and a Supreme Skilter which was junk as a skimmer too, works as a power filter though. That's still unused but it was overkill on my 38G H.
