How many 20Lb bags of sand substrate do i need to fill my 75gal 48x18x21 at a depth of 2"? I'd prefer not to go anywhere past 2".

48x18= approx. 6 square feet. How many square feet does a 20 cover ?
I used three 50's in my 125 for approx. 1 1/2 inches to start.
I used the (what I call) bag rule (considering I used 50's).
Lay the bag length wise to the tank. Halve the bag thickness for the increased width of the tank and you will be close I think.
My 125 is the same as your 75 in width/depth/front to back, however you look at it, just 2 feet longer (side to side). I used three 50's and came out pretty good. If you use 20's, I'd say three to start.

Three bags of sand would be fine dude.
Short version I guess. :):)

How do you keep from getting sand into the filters? just spacing?
