You guys are really reaching now. We've established the worth of this fish according to the numbers that were provided. If the op was dishonest (which there is no reason to suspect), that does not change the fact that a two year old wild caught 18" oscar is rare and valuable. Disliking oscars is your prerogative, but questioning the thread starters honesty is a cheap shot imho.

Guess what thats life. Its very hard to take anyones word these days. If someone makes a claim then provide proof. I hope the kid comes up with some proof to shut this thread up because we can all look at some better threads on here

I will have a input on this, due to I own a Oscar and other various cichlids in my tank set up.A oscar that is only 2 to 3 inches the most cost 14 dollars.Luckily enough,I was able to get a Tiger Oscar that was already 5 inches for 12 dollars. So I honestly would rather not pay a higher price for a 2 to 3 inch oscar for 14 dollars, while I could get lucky once more and find a 5 inch or 9 Oscar for 12 to 20 dollars, compared to paying for a tiny oscar that will cost around that same price.Certain pet stores here are a major rip off on certain fishes, which I have seen a 3 inch oscar for 20 dollars, while a 3 inch Texas cost 8 dollars.I would assume a Texas is more uncommon in chain pet stores, compared to Oscars.

here a 2-3 inch oscar is $8 and when the lfs gets a large one in on trade like a 12 incher they are around $20 or so. Usually they are sold for less because the owner wants it gone quick

Burz, you have not been keeping score, only oscar m. can have input on this. He is after all the oscar authority.

LOL,well that isn't how it works with me,I am just going by what I have seen in prices on Oscars.I think everyone should have a input on this thread since its only a opinion from others and how the prices work in different states.I never knew a Oscar authority existed lol.

Ok this thread is closed. No proof! No reason the keep this going! I've seen plenty of oscars that are 15-17 inches with proof. This is getting real stupid because its over an oscar. Some people love them and some dont. I dont prefer them but some people on here do and we know who I'm talking about. People get amazed when their oscar comes up for food or jumps. Well guess what most cichlids will do that because they all eat like crazy. I find nothing great about a large oscar because they are supposed to be big fat cows. I get impressed by huge wolf fish, large pike cichlids, and large predator cichlids (i dont put oscars in this category), huge catfish, and just about every big growing oddball fish. So what have you learned about me from this? Well it would be that i find just about every other fish interesting except oscars.

No I like oscars, It's you I have the problem with. So I called you out and now you can't give any answers. You post a bunch of garbage you can't back up and trash people for having an opionion different than yours. I just thought I would give you a little back is all.

I'm sorry if I was harsh with you, you can't tell people an angle or con is not a wet pet or that a few seconds of a fish on youtube constitutes the biggest or best of anything (and then get offended when others give an opion). We all get you like the fish, most of the people you argue with have owned them. You gotta tone down the attitude.

Yes I read what you wrote about wild caught oscars being genetically predisposed to growing slower and being smaller "because of how the native stock would have evolved to deal with the resource pressures of their natural habitat." I didnt think it was worth commenting on but if you insist, it was pretty nonsensical.

Could not help myself, one more rattle.

Since my comments are nonsensical I am going to assume you have a superior understanding of the transcriptional functions of genetic code. Could you now please educate me on how my opinion is completely unworthy of consideration.

Didn't really read the thread but I'd give you 50 bucks for him if I has the space. Awesome fish. I really want a wild O.

*my last post on this thread* To the OP: I offer my sincere apology for contributing to this epic charade of a derail. It is a nice looking fish. If you lived near me I would buy it. I hope it works out good for you and the fish.
