How much is an 18" wild oscar worth?

Again nothing you write is any use to the OP. He is selling the fish and wants to know what the price tag should be. Also it's not a feral Oscar. You can't fish for them in the UK duh. You clearly have absolutely no interest in oscars so why bother posting?
If you and a number of other people will pay $5000 dollars for a vintage strat then that's what it's worth.




I'm not angry about the quotes. I just think they are irrelevant. The OP is selling this fish. I've seen it for sale. He wants to know what a fair price tag should be and how much people who like big oscars would pay. Obviously if you don't like oscars you wouldn't pay anything so there's no need to post here. My dovii example has plenty of merit. We both know a 30" dovii would sell for a good amount so therefore demands a higher price tag.
It's as simple as this. If you are interested in large genuine WC oscars and are intrigued by one of this size, say how much you would pay for it. If you don't like oscars then why are you reading this thread or even throwing in your 2 cents?

Reason being is that I gave the common cost of what an Oscar will go for around my area, wild or not. So i have a right to post just as you do. They are not irrelevant. Because the Op asked a question on an open forum he will get contrasting opinions. And i never once said that I didn't like Oscars or was not going to ever get one. Your emotions led you to read too much into what I said. You say that you are not angry but the tone of your words say something else entirely. Relax, there is no need to get so upset over this matter. The OP bought the Oscar and is happy. If he decides to sell it and someone doesn't meet your estimated price range, should he not sell it because of your qoute? ^^I agree. I just bought a 5" p. losseilli that has a bigger personality than my 8in oscar. BOth of them are at the top of the tank during feeding, but the losseilli jumps out of the water.

Dont forget midas, rd, flowerhorns gt's.... and the list goes on.

Oscars will jump if they need to reach their food. My friend Jimmy had one on an outdoor pond that would jump out of the pond to grab lizards and flop himself back into the pond.

Dont forget midas, rd, flowerhorns gt's.... and the list goes on.

All runners up to the almighty oscar. Midevils are often too cagey and aggressive, while oscars are pretty consistently friendly and mellow. And none come close to the oscar's big personality, theyre the Babe Ruth of cichlids.

Flowerhorns are man's tribute to oscars, an attempt to hybridize a wet pet with more exotic looks than the original. But again, theres no across the board consistency with flowerhorns. The oscar did not reach its status by coincidence.

I think you've kind of misunderstood me here. The OP has had this fish a few years and is now selling it and wants to know what to ask for it. Only a couple of people have actually answered this question. I'm not saying my figure was correct either, just what I think he could get. Don't want to get into an argument over this, I just didn't feel that giving prices for common oscars was answering the question fully. I shouldn't have bought it up. I am however wondering, have you actually netted and measured this fish or is 18" an eyeball figure. You could probably get £60-70 for it if you advertised it for a long time and you were in no rush to sell it.

measured it 18" with a tape measure next to the tank

may measure slightly larger if i were to net it out and measure it

the depth of the fish is at least 11"

just wanted an estimate on fish that i thought was rare size. iv seen those so called 15" and 16" oscars, this fish is much much larger than any of those.

ill take some pics of the 18" next to some 12" oscars i have in the tank just to give you an idea

That's the best answer...short and sweet. It's about supply and demand. Try asking the highest price you think is fair and negotiate from there.

Nobody can give an estimate for a fish no one here is interested in and if you want to entertain offers this thread should be posted in the "Classifieds" forum were you might have more luck finding interested parties.

I was curious about the 11" depth claim. Doing some measurements, the fish is over twice as long as he is tall. If he's 11" tall, that would make him about 23"-24". Care to explain? Thanks.
