How much is your montlhy electricity bill if you have tanks over 300 gallons?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine is 50 dollars a month, 180g & 125g aquarium and a 300g pond.
Why so cheap? because i used filters, heaters, power heads and pumps that are all made in Europe/America and energy efficient (not china stuff). Recently i changed my lighting from 400watts power compact fixtures to 15 watts LED lighting, cost me about 300 for both tanks but worth the money.

also in socal... around 900 gallons worth of tank and pond... electric bill is anywhere between $90-$130 depending on the weather...

when we first moved in and only had about a hundred gallons worth of tanks the bill was somewhere around $75..

keeping the house warm in the cool months really helps.. the gas bill jumps from around $18 a month to $35 in the winter.... the first winter i let the house stay cool (i like it around 65) but the electric bill was around $150... that was with less than 200 gallons worth of indoor tanks..

Just my electricity is $350 a month and I keep my house warm so gas is $100. I do have some large tanks..and just too many. 750,400,240,120,80,80,65,65,50,40,40,40,40,20,10,10

Here in Oregon i pay roughly .08 a kilo watt.. 65.00 egual payments yearly.. 1- 55 gal.

Is your electricity from pg and e? Does to go by tier system? Where if you use below the baseline, then is is .11 per kwh?

Is p g and e, the electric company in your area?

i don't have a clue, i just know it's So-Cal EDISON, i have an fluval fx5 (used 55 watt), rena xp4 (32w), 3 rio 2100 (37w each), hydor koralia 4 (12w), hydor magnum 6 (10w), 3 four foot long LED lights (15w each), those are all of the equipments i uses for my 180 g tank, 125g tank and 300 gallons koi pond. Water is always clear because i change 5% everyday.

Yea, well PG and E, their rates are crazy high. You are so lucky to have that power company.

100 a month here. 5 tanks running nothing too substantial though. Electric clothes dryer is the deal breaker for me and I suspect maybe others ? Anyone else have electric water heater ? Dryer ? Cooktop ?
