Is your electricity from pg and e? Does to go by tier system? Where if you use below the baseline, then is is .11 per kwh?

we have socal edison... it uses a tier system.. beyond that.. i have no idea.. my gf pays electric and gas.. i pay for the phones, cable and internet..

U guys have it lucky.. I'm running 3 tanks.. 1 55g, 1 60g and 1 150 gallon...
along with the power i use at them house.. I'm paying about $130 average.. Winter.. Dec I had to pay $177! :irked:..
The problem with my tanks is that they are outside the sun-room where the insulation is virtually.. non-existent..

I'm glad the cold front is coming to an end and once that happens.. my bill will go down.. But Thats one reason its preventing me from upgrading to a 200 gallon tank..

I checked the rates for socal edison, it is a lot cheaper than PG and E. You are lucky to live in the area in CA where it is not expensive.

100 a month here. 5 tanks running nothing too substantial though. Electric clothes dryer is the deal breaker for me and I suspect maybe others ? Anyone else have electric water heater ? Dryer ? Cooktop ?

Everything in my house is electric. Washer,Dryer,Oven,Cooktop, heat, hot water heater. Everything

Roughly additional $20 for mainting my 1,000G indoor pond.

Two 65W rio pumps
1 Seaquest 25W pump for circulation

That's it.

10kw of solar panels help a lot. About $65,000 when you subtract tax refunds iirc.
My parents were paying over $1k/month for power at one point before the solar panels were installed. This is with no tanks, just air conditioning, lights, computers and a clothes dryer.

Edit: oh, and a well pump. That's the biggie. Lot of irrigation.

My 2500 sf house with a 300, a 210, and a 55 gallon runs me about $175 a month for electric and my house is all electric.

here in Ontario, utilities are fairly cheap.

We pay $0.057 (approximately 6 cents) per KW.

I am on an equal billing plan where I pay $108 per month for hydro.

this is for my 3 bedroom townhouse (aprox. 1600 square feet), with washer dryer fridge etc etc.

I run 235g worth of aquariums (150g, 65g, 20g hospital).

Mine is 50 dollars a month, 180g & 125g aquarium and a 300g pond.
Why so cheap? because i used filters, heaters, power heads and pumps that are all made in Europe/America and energy efficient (not china stuff). Recently i changed my lighting from 400watts power compact fixtures to 15 watts LED lighting, cost me about 300 for both tanks but worth the money.
I also use energy efficient equipments. I only have two piece of equipment made in China. All my equipments are made in the USA or Europe. I run low power T5 lighting and have cover for all my tanks to keep the tank temperature steady. My price is $135 in the winter for 150g, 125g, 75g, 20g, and 12g. In the summer the price is about $85. All my tank temp are kept at 80F. For those paying over $300 a month I would check the wattage on your pump motors. The Sedra pump I was using for water change was rated at 200w. Imagine 200w running all day vs a 20w canisters. That's a big difference right there.
