How to level the water in an aquarium.

I had to double check the date on this thread because there was a nearly identical one like it several years ago. It was determined that the water was defective since water is suppose to self level. Anyway, the solution was to drain the unlevel water and refill it with level water. That fixed it.

You might want to mention this to your water company so it doesn't happen again.

anyway.. that tiny bit isn't enough to worry about IMO. my 210 is just barely off like that. the fish don't seem to mind.

Yeah, it's such a small amount and certainly not noticable if the water level is above the trim. My concern is the pressure that small slant would have. Since I'm new to this sort of stuff I just worry and asked here to see if maybe someone could tell me if that type of slant is nothing to worry about, or if it's something that need to be corrected asap.

There's no extra pressure the level is so slightly off its not creating any stress to your tank. I think all my tanks don't sit perfectly level cause they sit on carpeting.
The only stress is if your one of those kind of people who are perfectionist and just knowing its not perfectly level bothers you to no end

Shirly the slightly extra surface area would be negated by the slightly lower water volume.

Don't sweat it. As long as your stand is sitting flat and your tank is sitting flat on the stand with no slight twists or bumps it'll be fine.

Check the level of the tank going down the length as well. If both of those are off, you could potentially have some twisting forces at work. If so, you do in fact need to level the aquarium.

If the length is level and the tank is just tilting back, it is probably OK. You just don't want to have one corner lower/higher than all the others.

i used foam on mine cut it so it was slightly thinner on one side has done the job and havent had any other problems>

That doesn't seem to be a good idea because there isn't really any way for the average DIYer to ensure that the surface is perfectly flat. An uneven surface could cause more problems on down the road with the aforementioned twisting forces causing a split seam and causing more problems than if he just left it as it is.
