I use to say cichlids as Silk-Lids, even though I knew it was wrong. And only up to 3-4 months ago did I learn how to correctly pronounce Arowana. Arrow-arr-na. I use to say Arra-wan-a.

I have always pronounced bichir: *****-er but after getting funny looks I now say it: Birch-er. In NZ english bichir looks like *****-er so thats how I say it.
