my map turtle has had septicemia for weeks and i have been giving antibiotics the whole time. It dosn't seem like he is getting much better. What should i do??

yes, i did take him to a vet and it is septicemia he has red all over his plastron. is there a chance he will live?
Not usually... If it's just an infection you should be able to treat it with anti biotics. Neosporin is actually great for dermal abrasions, cuts scrapes etc.
But if it has developed into septicemia, meaning the infection has spread into the blood stream, the chances are very slim.
Generally when an infection becomes septic the condition of the animal seems to go down hill, it becomes very lethargic and unresponsive and unfortunately..will very rarely come back from it.

i went to a vet who says he has experience with all exotics. turtles, snakes, bob cats.
he prescribed baytril orally and betadine to be painted on the shell.

I won that bet.... baytril.... Probably not causing any problems atm but I hate that drug.
An exotic vet should know the difference between an infection and septicemia and if it really is septic they should have warned you the chances are slim.
Is he getting worse or just not getting better?
The prescribed meds SHOULD be working but.. it's baytril.... thats a double edged sword with reptiles.

he's not getting worse but he's not getting much better. i cant really say. i Really love this turtle. he's my favorite pet.
