The main issue I have with these fish is getting food down to the rays, the rays are only their temporarily until I can make space in another tank with other rays.
I used to feed the tems smelt as it's larger than white bait but the oil film on the water surface seems to linger for too long.
They got excited as I walked in the other day and the biggest Tem tail whipped the Asian aro and sent him about three feet across the tank.
The giant gourami was a rescue, a friends tank broke and literally poured out, he had to run a bath and throw them all in.
I inherited the smaller Niger, the gourami, an azul, a silver arowana and two of my own monos that he was looking after.
I had to sell the azul because of the Temensis, the arowana stayed for a long time until the Asian turned so I rehomed him and the other still live there now.
It's hard to find tank mates that are compatible, they destroyed two large tigrinus catfish and swallowed a 20" Aimara head first because he was getting nasty - the Aimara still lives there, they also grabbed the silver arowana at one point but released him, he was about 18"
