very impressive, you obviously have done your research... i dont belive you that its your first time :j/k: but seriously looks very very professional! im guessing your outside temp never varies very much? must be nice to be able to keep those species outside. I just dont think theyd survive -40*C winters here.

i Have had some people ask for sale of these gars,
i will have to see in about 45 days from now how many i manage to keep alive. biggest problem will be shipping cost.

They started eating live brine shrimp today and also trout feed powder.
so it looks good so far.
the fish in my aquarium are not in the best shape so I had to take them to a bigger tank I have outside.
i guess there were too many in one tank.

I would like to try the Cuban gars as well but need to get my hands on some good specimens first, I haven't seen them here and importing is quite expensive. maybe next year.

will try to post more new video by tomorrow.
I am amazed by the amount of people reacting and reading this thread.
THANKS TO ALL !!!!

how big are the parents gars? and how old were they before they started breeding? thanks :)

Good stuff. Really neat pictures and videos. Quite the accomplishment indeed. The fry are so different from any of the fish I breed it's really interesting to see how they behave.

On another note do you have any pictures of your Koi? A friend and I are looking at setting up a koi farm here in Canada and it may be cheaper to import from costa rica than Japan. If you're looking to move some of them that is. You can shoot me a pm if you like and I will send you an e-mail address.

Cheers!

My female is 6 pounds and 79cm the males are 65 cm each and about 3,5 to 4 pounds.
they are all 4-5 years old

that's absolutely amazing, congrats and I hope most of them will live.

onlybigfish, I will like to invite to post your project on a Costa Rica's fish forum, we're following the project here from MFK, but we would be honored if you joined our community, so we can learn from you.
