ID on trout...........

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
we wont be able to know until the op replies with what the spots looked like. It has the colour of a brown but the spots really do look like rainbow spots. also on the side right of the long blood stripe you can see faintly that there is a pink tone in the skin.

I blew the photo up on my computer and I think Fisher is right. I was thinking brown at first, but after looking at a close-up I'm pretty sure it's a rainbow. It's amazing how hard an ID can be from one photo alone between two fish that are easily discernible at the stream.

I've been fishing for trout for 20+ years, and in that time I've caught thousands of them. There are several world famous trout streams flowing within a half hour of my driveway. By now I've learned to tell the species apart pretty well lol.

That is a RAINBOW trout! I trout fish over a 100days a year. That is no brown. Most def a rainbow. Nice catch!

Those black and milds (i believe) look good too:headbang2

I thought it was a rainbow but I I believed them to have more of a shinny finish. Also it's hard to see pass the blood trail but it did have a faint reddish/pink line going down the middle of the body....

Im a bass fishermen to the fullest so IDK what it was except being a trout and a great catch on a excellent day of fishing !
