Weed shiner with red a caudal fin! I have to see this next year in person.

Must be a trick of the light. It has a clear caudal with the stripe through it. I really need to get a photo setup going that's not my hand.

That's not a bad photo (just hard to ID any nondescript silvery thing with even the best of photos)

Excellent guess but it's not mirabilis.

It is a Phenacobius and I would also have guessed suckermouth based on this photo so don't feel bad. The photo accurately represents this fish but this specimen darker than most drawings indicate.

This fish came from east central Alabama.
