Inline filter

All of my siphons are designed for high flow rates, but you have a different goal.

One siphon I that ran successfully on a freshwater tank for a year, clogged up too easily on a brackish water tank which had heavier biofilm. Within six weeks it was clogging up. I ended up increasing that siphon by two sizes.

Do you have chloramine in TX water?

Are you doing a hot and cold mixed to temps you need?

I used a doser with calculated amount of conditioner. My drip system I used a carbon filter (no chloramine)

This may give you some ideas.

I used drilled tanks with a manual float valve and a pump on a timer. I used a gravity drip with a calculated amount of prime. I ran it off the washing machine connections and manually did the temp (filled a test barrel)

The drip system I ran it through a carbon block with no hot water.

Personally I wouldn't rely on a siphon. I would run a dependable pump on a timer or dj switch panel. Remove the amount you want then have a float valve similar to an rodi shutoff to handle your refill. I would run the pre filters just like an rodi as well.

If you have a link to the device ill look at it, but from what I googled in don't trust it

The only way I can answer for sure is set it up and try it. I am still doing primary setup. My bottle of Seachem Stability just came in today. I may be getting Mozanbique Tilapia to put in it next Friday. Unless I am able to catch a bowfin or two from my pond. I think the only reason I can't land one is because I want to!
If this system does not work, well it won't be the first. That is why I posted it here for input.
Thanks

Those tilapia won't survive in cold water like a bowfin right?

What's up with tilapia? Hybridizing like mad?

(I remember when tilapia filets hit the supermarket.
It was never seen here before maybe 2004?)

Now I have a friend with 2 acres and a bunch of old bath tubs who wants to set up big this aquaponics rig with tilapia.

Somehow I really expect it to turn out more like Dave's Fish Rescue rather than produce serious food, but tilapia? They must like the summer heat, because we have 3 mos in the hi-90s ~ lo-100s here in the SSJV.

Oh yeah, that hose filter on amazon is just a small overpriced carbon filter. For about the same price you can get 5lbs of aquarium carbon in a sealed plastic bucket on amazon. Put a fitting in each end and you've got 10x the filter.

No, I had them in my pond about 5 years ago. They clear out excess vegitation and multiply like crazy. They become a lot of food for my bigger fish. Last time the survived two winters, until we had a very cold winter. They utilize them here in Texas for pond maitenance

I started seeing Mozambique Tilapines back in the 60s and 70s, I got my first ones around 63.
