Iridescent sharks not eating

Good news. I think they were merely adjusting to the new tank, water, and diet.

Starting out healthy and at a good size, many fish and catfish can fast for up to 4-6 months. The first 2-3 months often show no effect except for a flat tummy, not even concave. By 4-6 months, they surely will look skinnier and skinnier and their immune system will likely get weaker making them more suseptible to deseases. Still, plenty of accounts can be found here and elsewhere that they rebound just fine after such long fasts.

I had a 15-year old IDS that refused to eat any floating pellets for 3 months. Had to buy sinking just for him and he ate.

Thanks. I thought they were adjusting at first but then they went for a month without food and I got concerned. Luckily thy're eating tonnes now, and are fattening up

Sorry, I got my timelines wrong then. Could you please re-cap what happened - what they ate first, when they stopped, and how you got them feeding again? It'd be good to have for reference and posterity :)

I got them from someone on Craigslist for only 16 dollars for the pair. I originally tried to feed them floating pellets and bloodworms, but they completely ignored it. I know they're supposed to be in a huge tank in a school of 5, so I'm going to transport them to my friend's pond in the summer, and he'll take care of them from there since he also has some IDs there. Anyway, I phoned the person who I brought the fish from and got the exact same food (sinking shrimp pellets) , hoping they would recognize it as food, but they didn't. After a month or so of trying, I finally found them eating the pellets

Thanks much. Sounds sensible. Sometimes they can start feeding sooner, other times later. One month of adjusting time is well within the normal range. Good luck.
