The assembly continues. I'm preparing the headlights, and then comes the cowl.


I won't be able to tow it like this with the bumper on. I will need an adaptor

Headlights are remounted and wired up to the body. Gages stabbed in but not wired. The rear body is attached to the front body but nowhere else.

I’m doing the special dance you do when you buy a new welder.

I was not expecting this until Monday. I’m going to build a cart for it tomorrow but I’m going to weld it with gas because I don’t have any argon for this welder, nor do I have a helmet or any welding rods for arc welding.

I’ve got this crazy aluminum rod for low heat aluminum brazing that I want to try.

I was really hoping to have this car at the DMV next week so I got to keep after it here. The car welding will have to come later, after I have a title in my name.

First test welds on 1mm and .75mm VW pan scraps. Edge weld of .75mm floor pan to 1mm pan stiffener. I didn’t clean between the layers and I had a blow through otherwise it looks sloppy but it’s strong.


This is the part of the reinforcement where are you jack up the Volkswagen under the running board.
