I’m doing the special dance you do when you buy a new welder.
I was not expecting this until Monday. I’m going to build a cart for it tomorrow but I’m going to weld it with gas because I don’t have any argon for this welder, nor do I have a helmet or any welding rods for arc welding.
I’ve got this crazy aluminum rod for low heat aluminum brazing that I want to try.
I was really hoping to have this car at the DMV next week so I got to keep after it here. The car welding will have to come later, after I have a title in my name.
First test welds on 1mm and .75mm VW pan scraps. Edge weld of .75mm floor pan to 1mm pan stiffener. I didn’t clean between the layers and I had a blow through otherwise it looks sloppy but it’s strong.
This is the part of the reinforcement where are you jack up the Volkswagen under the running board.
closeup shot, 1mm to 1mm with lap, & tapering gap.
I wanted an automatic helmet, and finally found one I liked and could afford. This Miller Elite is tweaked for TIG, and sells for over $350 with tax, locally.
I haven't got a clue what you're doing @Ulu! You talk in language that goes in one ear and out of the other. It's as if you're in a little engineering world of your own, yet I keep tuning in for your latest instalment, lol.
