It’s been a whole year

Well, eventually the gussets all got made and welded.

I got most of the floor welding done now. I also got the fuel tank support welded on.

I need to roll the chassis to finish up a few more pan welds. Also I still have a few welds to repair.

I got the last 24 crossmember to floor pan welds on the bottom, fixed a couple bad welds, and started stripping off the bad paint. It sounds solid with no rattles.

Yesterday was the first of two Christmas dinners at our house. Everything went off fine, and there were no disasters. Her family was here, and tomorrow it’s mine.

Things didn’t start until 4pm, so I still managed to cut some pan bracket reinforcement bars for the car and get them cleaned up & welded in. The seat risers are now welded in too

I also got some more rust cleaned up, and prepped for the last bits of welding.

It was a lovely day in the mid 60’s & it looks like prime painting weather tomorrow. Maybe it will happen today, because my family starts showing up at noon tomorrow.

But there is still more welding needed on the fuel tank support. I need to make some more crossmember gussets too.

We were supposed to get a little rain this morning but it came in the night. I am hoping for the 68F they posted for today’s weather.

Here’s wishing you all nice weather for Christmas!

We got some real rain for a change. I didn’t get to finish these brackets yet.

Today I made the last gusset, and they are now welded in.

It stayed warm until sundown, so I flipped the frame upside down, gave it a cleaning, and shot 5 pints of satin black. I’ll do the top later, because of the weather.

It’s raining, but somehow I just barely managed to beat the rain. The finish won’t be great, but at least it won’t rust up during assembly.

Blast my careless hide, I was just about ready to paint the top of my chassis Thursday. I was cleaning the last bits of rust off the chassis with an electric grinder and I nicked the main brake line, ruining it.

I had to go buy a new one for $25 and now I have to dig the old one out of the tunnel and bend up a new one and put it in there. I decided to put off painting until after that was done because I simply didn’t wanna be leaning over the fresh paint scratching it up.

To make myself feel better I also went out and bought a new guitar.
