How do you euthanize a fish with clove oil? Put it in his water? Inject it? Excuse my ignorance

Put it in the water like water conditioner. 1/2 ml to every gallon. Once the fish gills stop moving take it out the water and do what you need to

I've found a small container that closes with just enough water for the fish. Drop in a couple of alka seltzer and close the lid quick. The CO2 does them in almost instantly.

That's if you want to put it down. Clove oil can be used for surgeries too not just putting them down. It also doesn't send the fish into panic

True, but he asked about euthanasia, not surgery and I've never heard of surgery on HITH. Of you have I would love to hear about it. As for panicking the fish, removing it to a small container to anesthetize will do the same. At least mine freaks whenever anything happens that doesn't involve feeding.

I don't know what is with everyone being so disgusted with decapitation of a fish.
Yeah its a pet, but sheesh. Its still a fish. There's nothing wrong with euthanizing a fish that way as long as you can do it right.
I suppose if you've never killed an animal before for food, you might have nightmares. But I guess most people here are city folk.

Has nothing to do with where people are from. It's a pet, not dinner caught in the lake.

The point of decapitation is to give the fish a less painful death. I don't agree with it but it might work for some people.

And no it doesn't have to do with where you are from I grew up in NYC and moved around the country a lot in my youth. I've hunted animals to eat and gone fishing even thou I don't eat fish
