I have 9 in my tank.. Trying to get rid of 7.. for free.. my friend only had 1 dempsey, 1 convict, 3 parrot fish.. they had thought the parrot fish had babies so gave me some well my son as apparently the dempsey and the convict were both males.. but when the babies started developing I realized they were not parrots as they were def not orange..
My fish look like convicts but with some dempsey markings.. like on the fins and the spangles.. and they all grow at a different rate (these are my first fish and my first big fish tank) I tried asking the fish store if they would take them they told me no.. I don't know how to tell if they are males or females.. none have laid eggs yet.. Not sure If I want them too
They are smart little buggers though... My biggest one "Jack" soaks up all the attention from us. He will come and dance at the glass but any other fish that comes near, he will chase them away.. when we refill our water in our tank they try to find any openings to jump :0 .. but when our tanks is like half empty they all play and slap the water or make these weird clicking noises or they enjoy popping the bubble at the top of the tank.. I thought it was because they were sick or something at first, but its just their thing they do.. When we had the fish tank in view of the TV they really use to all watch TV.. strange little fish I have..
