Juan and the RT are now eating the small Carnisticks as well. They both love it and attack as it hits the water.
He is looking great, wild Oscars are definitely special. Gonna be a monster in no time!-)
Well Houston we have a situation.
Me being the ever impatient fish keeper wanted to see if Toni and Juan would get along. So I swapped places with Hotlipz and Juan. Hotlipz went into the 55 and Juan went into the 125 with Toni. I figured he is the same size as Hotlipz so should be ok.
So it went a lot better than I thought. There were no brawls or anything, Toni actually seemed to be flashing at him like she wanted to mate. So I went to bed and all was well.
I wake up in the morning (today) and my heart sank. Juan Carlos was floating on the waters surface, lifeless. I touch him to see if he was playing dead or something.........sadly that's not the case. Sonething must have went terribly wrong overnight for Toni to have killed him.

the wild Os have nice stripes but to me the albino reds are the nicest common color to get
Wow, so sorry to hear about this.
You never know what will happen with a big cichlid who has establish itself in a tank. They sometimes take a shine to something that you never thought could work and other times just will not stand for something that you think would work. The little Oscar must have been seen as enough of a threat to be killed.

What you experinced is part of what I fear may happen when I add my Columbia Oscar to the 300g. The 14" Pearsei and 9" heterospilus while mild for cichlids may not see the new comer as a welcome guest.
tht sucks im suprised wen i add new oscars too my tank they just follow each other around I must be lucky
I feel bad, he died cause of what I wanted. All was working out with him and the RT, Toni and Hotlipz. I wanted him and Toni to mate up, should have waited longer, gave him a better chance.
I changed the tank and all that. Took out the branches, put in seven different hides with rocks. Still she just didn't like him.....
