How big is it now after your 1 year of ownership? Picture of the lap will be helpful. I too have a lap that hasn’t grown much. It’s 14” slender and doesn’t eat much either. Original owner had for about 2 years and I just got it about 2 months ago.
I will post pics. she was 10 inches when i got her and now is around 11.5 inches. She is exactly what you said, slender and her head seems to be bigger than body.

anybody have any input or recommendations? I am so worried lol I hope she can just act normal. I will probably buy a few feeders and worms this wednesday. I will let you know the results. Also i will add in more shelter because I know that my tank is quite bare. Thanks for the help everybody! I really appreciate it!

I would get a proper water test kit (for ammonia, nitrate, nitrite) with the drops vs. strips as it's more accurate. There's no way to know what your water is doing without it, and water can look fine but not be fine. Can definitely affect growth and health over time. With the O as a tankmate I know they can be messy pigs, so it's important. ;)

Also he keeps trying to jump. Also my water all of a sudden turned a little yellow green. ( I guess water is not too perfect) any recommendations. He's been jumping for a while after I took out a bunch of rocks during maintenance and didn't put them back. Also maybe yellow colored water is from not changing filter? Cause I changed the water 2 days ago. Let me know what to do

If he's trying to get out of the water continually, there's something wrong with the water. Do 100% water change.

Hope ur not going thru a mini cycle. Would do the water change as rocksor mentioned and add some bacteria in a bottle. Please check the water parameters with a kit or tester. Add some driftwood/plants and see if the lap will settle in it or around it.

My advice is to get a testing kit. :) And I think it's others' advice, too, if you read the above responses carefully.

The point is that your water quality could be causing all of these symptoms - the lack of growth, the skittishness, the lack of eating. So getting a water test kit should be your first priority (as in get one now, online) after another water change. I'd do a 75% change myself, being sure to match temperatures of the water you're changing and your tank.

A 30% water change may not have been enough. And cleaning some of your filter might help, too. What kind of filter do you have?

Again, the first step is to see what you're dealing with for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and then we can be more specifically helpful.

Okay I will do a 75 percent water change tonight. I will also be getting test kits either today or tommorrow. He is kind of settled, as I've made him a cave and I will monitor from theRe. I am also changing the filter out tonight and I have beneficial bacteria bottle at home which Is good. I have a pretty new fluval 100 gallon 404. The black and red one with a input and output valve. Do the test kits at petco work? I think that may be quicker. Also thanks again everyone for input. I'll do my best and update results
