Lapradei Bichir Problem

Im 100% yours is a WC nigerian lap, but still even a WC can slow down on growth if its not a big eater.

I bought smelt and my bichir doesn't touch it. I also tried worms and no go either. Idk. Im going to do another water change and see if that helps.

Yours a Wild Caught Nigerian lap. The black markings/spots is a WC indicator. They’re scars left by harmless parasites called Metacercariae.

At times. Laps can be shy and want to hide behind another poly or decor. Demeanor should change as it gets older. My group never wants to be up near the front panel. Yours will eventually go for pellets. Try frozen cut tilapia.

Hardness: 300 very hard
Chlorine: 0
Alkalinity: 0
Ph: 6.2

Thats alarming that your nitrite is 1.0. That's not good.

I did a water change, but before that found this on her body, like cottony tilapia like strands. Also there are white dots over his body. This happened before but seemed to disappear by itself. Any ideas? Pics here:

Look like it’s already improved in the pics and ur post. Wouldn’t treat just yet. Get that water under control and it should get better. Polys can clear this w/o meds and just pristine water.
