Male. On picture 5 you can see the spines clearly. He is looking good.

On pic 5 the very edge of the gill plate the light tan edging almost looks ripped. That's what I was looking for. I'll find a way to circle it later

I hope those Congo tetra grow fast, because IMO look like the Ctenopoma can easily suck one in .
