Well here is whats under my 70gallon tank. I know its a bit plain and simple but I like it. On the left is the FX5 which keeps my tank crystal clear. On the right is my power supplies on top and a container of Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, tools i used in my aquarium and API chemical and salt.
The reason I don't do sumps, overflow boxes, W/D fitration, UV light and plumbings is because
1 - This tank is in my room, and overflow and W/D systems are known to make noises and I would pretty much like a good night rest after school everyday. So yah, I plug in a silent FX5 anyday
2 - I hate DIYs, Not really a fan of drilling holes in my acrylic tank for pipes, I can't even cut an output spraybar straight....
3 - Im a supportor of KISS, Keep it simple stupid. The less complicated my aquarium system is, the less chance for me to screw up and have water all over my room.
This is my setup, it's a 120 with 2 overflows that drain into a 55, where two turtles live. From there a external pump pushes water through two canister filters, one with a pleated cartridge and one with bio media, back up to the 120. I also have an Eheim 2217 running, and my heaters are concealed in the overflow box. I'll try and get better pictures of the fish and turtles but this is a filtration thread so I guess these will do for now.
Sometimes it's all about what's not in your stand.
The only visible equipment in my stand is a Blueline Tsunami wavemaker/feeding timer. The plumbing is hidden behind three layers of soundproofing board and plywood.
All the lighting and temperature control is in two access panels behind the tank in the laundry room. Filtration is all located in the crawlspace - two NuClear canisters for mechanical filtration and a 300G Rubbermaid sump full of DIY filters.
