Sometimes it's all about what's not in your stand. :D

The only visible equipment in my stand is a Blueline Tsunami wavemaker/feeding timer. The plumbing is hidden behind three layers of soundproofing board and plywood.

All the lighting and temperature control is in two access panels behind the tank in the laundry room. Filtration is all located in the crawlspace - two NuClear canisters for mechanical filtration and a 300G Rubbermaid sump full of DIY filters.
Awesome setup Dan! That setup is worth every penny! ;) so clean. I'm too affraid to go iunder my house or I would have a sump down there too.. The sump is so beast! lol

WOW! Some of you all have amazing filtration set ups! Most are worthy of permanent display! I have always been pretty happy with my under tank organization, but I see now I am weak and lacking lol.

But, I do have a pretty well stocked stand under my 55. Since I don't have a canister under it, I keep most of my supplies there. There's enough supplies to test, cure, fix or replace about anything in my collection :)

OK, to save my "man hood", I am going to go to Home Depot today and buy a bunch of PVC. Not sure what I am going to build yet...but I can see I don't have even close to enough piping in my fish room!

^^^^^^^ Oh that is a work of art! Outstanding plumbing. Is that check valve necessary on the returns? It looks like the returns are very hi and may not syphon much in the event of a power outage.
Also is that a drain going to the right? Sweet! :D

Thank you.

I put a check valve for service reasons. I didnt want water to trickle back while im working back there. Also the return nozzle sits below the water surface.

That extra pipe is for fresh filtered tap water. For top offs. All I need is a drain.

The overall setup, Still working on getting the White PVC out of the tank...
There was not enough room for one large sump, and I had 2 extra 30 gallons laying around, so I came up with the bridge idea to make them one sump.

Into the mechanical filtration area- the HOB's I usually keep running so I always have some extra cycled filters, just in case.

over the bridge

The coffee cans make sure that even if the water level drops super low, the siphon wont break. and I filled it up with crushed terra cotta (my favorite media) for some extra filtration. Can't hurt right?

The top of the bridge, note the airline hoses

The bio filtration area. Combination of a powered UGF and a refugium for floating plants.

This pump is connected to the UGF. It pulls the water through the plates, then through the coffee can that is filled with even more crushed terra cotta (plus it keep the gravel out of the pump) the other part of the pump intake goes to the bridge to keep the air from building up. The output from the pump goes to the opposite side of the tank, where it is released below even more gravel, resulting in a R-UGF for that area.

All in all it works pretty well, and saying the only thing I had to buy was some 4" pvc, it was well worth it. Also a good use for all the crap clownpuke gravel I have accumulated from used tanks.

These pics are a little dated, I have since added a few gallons of bioballs and removed some of the crap in the mechanical area, as well as added a few immersed plants to the refugium area.
