Hey Sashimi,

I recently purchased a Cigar Shark/Golden Shark (Leptobarbus Hoevenii) that was 4". In a months time it has out grown my vatf and is pushing 7" plus. These might grow fast enough for what you need them before. Wetspot has them for sale at 2.5" for 4$ a piece itll be worth a shot.

In the mean time id get a separate 125 gallon. I've put up an ad on craigslist wanting a scratched up 125 gallon tank and theres a lot of people willing to part it for 80-100$ maybe you will find a better deal in your area. Separate your fish while your growing out dithers. Separating and reintroducing my vatf worked for me. Keep the vatf in the 650 and the goliath in the 125. Itll give your vatf to catch up on growth.

On Topic:

Chicxulub,

You are crazy for even putting your fatf in the tank! I think a good idea would be to get a variety of dither fish right now and put them in with your gatf just to get him exposed and being comfortable to more tank mates that are smaller.

No pictures today because I don't presently have access to a camera nice enough to actually capture it. However, I figured 'd throw it out there that Max is shedding teeth again. He's been shedding teeth about once a month all summer long. He's really hit a nice growth spurt. I'm quite pleased.

I managed to get a shot of Max's regrown dorsal fin tonight! It looks really good! It doesn't have that nasty hump anymore, all it has is a gentle curve that looks just like the gentle curve in the hook on the top lobe of his tail fin. It's still slightly wavy, but it stands up straighter day by day. Sorry about the quality of the pic compared to my normal work, my wife has the Nikon and she's out of state for the time being.

And yes, I somewhat aquascaped my tank. I got tired of the bare bottom look. Don't judge me! :lol2:

And for S&G, here's the rest of the fin surgery pics so y'all don't have to go rooting through the thread to find 'em. Pics are ordered from most recent to oldest...

Sorry, I couldn't help it. I couldn't even see max in the picture just because of it lol. All seriousness though, Max looks awesome. Glad he's healed up nicely.

No worries lol, I'm never one to turn down a chance for lulz.

I actually intended to get the shot that way though. If he was against the black background of the tank, the black edge of the fin gets lost on the black background field and it's hard to see just what's going on with the healing.
