They can go that long without food at that size?!

He was extremely healthy and well fed when I started. Do remember that he was on pellets and eating very well before the move. After the move, he stopped eating pellets and became stubborn. I wouldn't have pushed it this long if I didn't know this fish so well, such as if he was a new purchase.

Such a pain in the butt! Datnoids have been my most difficult fish to pellet train, but my ATF's were stubborn as well and took a few, month long starvation periods to finally get them to break ... its crazy that he was eating pellets and now will not ... thats really strange, but hopefully one day, he just starts eating them ... best of luck bud

Well, billy walked up to death, looked it in the eye, shook its hand and then started eating freeze dried prawns. It took four months of starvation to get him to come back around after the move. Dunno what that was all about.

The worst part is though, that right after he broke, he relapsed and ate live again(against my will).

Poor little multipunctatus.

(Yes, that's a pic of a pic. The Internet's out so I can't upload direct!)

I'd just wait for a while before offering pellets again. Fish can be stubborn like that

That pic is amazing, though, just a shame the fish he ate was not a simple feeder :D

I know! He's such a stubborn cuss. I continued on my normal feeding routine after this and it actually didn't affect him(thank god!), he still takes the prawns. Dodged a bullet there!

I'm glad he came out OK as well. I was worried about him eating a catfish because of the spines, but he doesn't seem any worse for the wear.

I AM however in the process of moving AGAIN. I hope hope hope hope that he doesn't go on a hunger strike again. This time I'm only moving about 20 minutes away instead of cross country.

Keeping my fingers crossed....

Found Billy floating belly up in the tank today. I'm done with freshwater for now. I'm setting up a reef.

Sorry to hear that brother.

Hope this isn't too soon, but what are you thinking for your reef? Community? Salty toothy fish? I'm curious.

Generic reef with corals, inverts and some small, colorful fish.
