The new mangrove didn't sport any roots when I picked it up on the beach two weeks ago.
Yesterday the seed became dislodged during a large water change, and is now being to show changes, looking more like a plant, than before.
Hard to believe its been almost a year, since the local mangroves started dropping their pods, but during todays dip they were floating in with the tide.
Was able to grab 3 Red Mangrove pods, and 2 black elongated pods this morning
Above growth on the "red" since last season.
Below, one of today's collected, balanced on the sump tank rim.
Rhizophora mangle (Red mangrove left), Avicenna germinans (black mangrove) right .
Here's the Red Mangrove pod after a couple weeks on the edge of the tank.
So far, the black mangroves (in the tank the longest) have grow straight up, not set out and branchings from the center stem.
Although the red mangrove, in the tank a few months shorter duration, are now, starting to send out, what appear to be side branchings off the center .
