You were probably following the old directions. Do this:

Never do 24 hours. Don't use tank divider... algae lets go from it. And don't use spotlights... use CFL curly-Q spirals...

thanks i was using the old directions. 111 pages is a lot to read anyway, i have changed the lights since the pic i guess the next step is too change the screen. thanks for the info. I'll fill in as i go a long so we can get another success story posted.

Here is what it seems the 25 is going to look like. The pink part on the top is the lid. The open part on the front is where the bulb and ballast go. The bottom is open, and will sit on a 5-pound metal plate. The back side will have the water tubes and drains:

Help!!!
I can not seem to get any algae growth on my screen/plate. I changed the screen out from divider to plexi that is really roughed up. I get great diatom growth but no algae. My flow is good, my light bulbs are new(2 weeks old) and the screen ir really rough. I use the 18 on 6 off light shcedule. what am i doing wrong. i really want this to work for me.

Can't use plexi... must use plastic canvas, roughed up.

I swear, I can't win for loosing. ARG!!! I will post some pics later tonight or in the morning. Where can i get this plastic canvas in a small quanity? I only need an 8"x10" Piece. Also can you post a pic of the plastic ,before it's roughed up? I couldn't see it very well in the above pic. thanks,
