Thank ya sir...that would be a Texas Indigo Snake an endangered spps. in Texas. I found him laying in the road. I didn't want hi to get hit so I picked him up for a photo and put him in the brush off the road. about 6 feet long and calm as a kitten :)

nice save an the snake, my son would be in heaven to be able to handle a wild snake that size.

This is a great photo.. is that the same as the Indigo you see in Florida? This is a magnificient example... big...........
 
I reckon, are those sort of snake venomous because he sure looks it......but so do Black headed pythons....

The one in FL is an Eastern Indigo, this one was a TX Indigo; two diff. sub spps. Thanks for the comments...cool critters :)

No sir, they are non-venomous and most of them that I have found hiss a little to scare you off but none (thus far) have even tried to bite me.
