Metal monster 3k

Wooden stand 101 lol...much better than before, its the right size this time too, not done yet of course, ran outta wood as it was very underbuilt in the first place. Almooooost there guys, sorry to distract with all my other projects, but i feel ive covered alot of other common d.i.y. questions in this thread :)

Enjoying your updates; gotta love DIY!

I have to remake the wooden stand for my 450 - the way the previous owner did it you can't service the sump. Your 230 looks like it will need a polishing (like mine) any tips?

Novus polish kits work very well and so does hand sanding with different grit wet sanding paper.

Alllmost done lol...this thing is finally up to my standards, extremly overbuilt just the way i like em. Busy today so i didnt get to cutting the top down to size yet but hopefully ill get er painted tommorow. Once i get paid ill be ordering another intex pool for my cats and its back to the 3k build very soon. Finally moving in the right direction. It kills me to even tear down a 10 gallon haha but some of my smalls simply have to go.

thats a nice looking stand man!

Funny u ask that as ive built the same one for my 450 :) lol...this stand tempelate will hold any tank out there if made right. I use it as the basis for all my wooden stands. I prefer steel but when wood is what a stand came with or what i happen to have it around its just as good as steel, just a bit heavier

Also i do not take any credit for this type of stand. Pharoah posted this a couple years ago, i just enjoy its simplicity and perfectness haha once you build one its easy to see how strong it is.

Great! Where do I find the template?

Its in the sticky posted by pharoah on the first page located in the diy stand section....or pictured above lol its the same design. I would def. Use 2x6's instead of 2x4's for a 450. I even threw in some 4x4's in my 450 stand just because i got them for free off pallets at work. Im assuming ur tank is 8' long so be sure to add more legs in. Mine has 14 legs but again i overkill everything and u prob dont need that many. Maybe start a thread with a picture of the stand u have and i can help u change/improve it to what u want.
