.....and this might be an idea for a whole new thread.Boxing vs MMA,which is more exciting?...All I'll say is I'm glad Royce Gracie is no longer competing and his style of fighting is not widely used in MMA.Talk about boring.

I loved watching Gracie's style. He hugged people to death

it was very intriguing when everyone first saw gracie because no one knew what he was doing. they'd roll around and one guy would end up tapping out

but the sport has evolved and passed him up. that stuff doesn't work as easily now because mostly everyone trains for it, whether it's offensive or to defend from it

Yeah, I remember how many Brazilian JJ places opened not long after he burst upon the scene. Wish it was before I stopped training, would have been a good counter to wrestlers. Gawds I hated wrestlers.

I still have the old VHS tapes of the first few UFC shows with Gracie competing.Everytime I watched a new show I hoped someone would beat him rather than see him wrap his opponent up and choke him with his gi.

Glory 17 this weekend is pretty stacked.
8 man MW tournament, HW title fight, and WW title fight.
I'm picking Ghita and Valtellini (Canadas last good fighter). It would be nice to see Manhoef do well in the tournament, but there's a lot of solid competition.
