Thats a biggen :)

I have a question...on my FB....I have a ton of UK friends that carp fish all the time, post huge carp such as commons, mirrors, grass and koi/goldfish. When they take photos, they almost never look to the camera, they look away from camera...

I'm sceptical when it comes to a difference in slender when you compare Europe to the US.
I've caught many really slender carp in France,in fact most of the carp I caught in France where really slender.
Those big fat European Carp are in fact really fake,I'f you would ask me to describe them.
Those fish are usssually from heavily fished ponds, where fishermen throw tons of food in the water each year just to get the carps attention.
The carp can eat all they want each year and need little exercise to get it,so they get really big.
It's like taking an LMB put him in a pond overfeed him for a couple of weeks and then pose with the fish on a photo, really nothing special about it.
When I go out fishing within my hometown I ussually see carp that you describe like tanks in the watersystems, who are big fat and piglike shaped.
But when I take my bicycle and go to some unknown waters the carp are ussually the same as in your pictures.
Carp just need some conditions to grow really big and because carp are really popular here those conditions are created making those carps huge,In your country carps are trashfish and so those conditions are never created which gives them there average look.

Still big 30-40lb carps do existed in United States, and they just never have that "deep" bodied look. To my knowledge, leather carp are rare in United States.

Noted that wild slender carps do exist in Europe.

So do you eat them?
Hell no! I always give the carps to the trappers as bait. My guess is that other posters probably don't eat these carp either.

i shoot many large carp in many lakes in MN. they don't all have the long slender look/build like what is being said. once a carp gets over 10 lbs they get the bulk. here is some we just shot sunday. the mirror carp was 24lbs. also a buffalo i shot that day.

also i know of a 86lb carp shot here in MN a few years back. our record hook and line is 55 lbs 5oz. we don't combine the bowfishing and hook/line records.

Sbuse, they all looks like slender carp to me as they don't have deep-bodied looks like you seen ones in Europe......Question: what's up with the one with funny face above the big mirror carp?
