Gah, what a great combo..."lets take this giant tank-busting fish and then make it fast and nervous as well"....
Best idea since the snuggie!!

I'm kind of new to this so I'm not sure if I’m asking this question in the right place but, I have a redtail catfish and right now his tank is pretty bare. Just a cave or two to hide in. what else could I add to make a better environment? Oh and I have a sand bottom not rocks because I was afraid he'd swallow them. Thank you.

Awesome thread necrocanis! You should do a review on the Piraiba, supposively the largest catfish in the Amazon today. Growth to about 3-4 meters, 600+ lbs, also they growl like a dog!

Get a bigger tank and start saving for an even bigger tank cuz it will out grow that too!

They can grow to that size, but the largest that I've heard of in this century is around the 400 lbs mark. I and several other members on here have kept them briefly as pets. I lost mine and all my other fish when someone destroyed all my tanks. I would love to do some more profiles. I slacked for a while, when I was constructing my 4000 gal aquarium, and again when I was getting divorced. Now I'm jobless and trying to get into college. lol, funny how life works huh?;) I still have my origional list of species that I intended to do somewhere on this computer. I'll have to dig them up someday and get busy. I basically go off of personal expirience, hard research, and combination of information from different sources to come up with what I've posted so far. Whenever I can actually afford to get back into aquariums, you can bet that I will be doing catfish all the way again!!!!

Catfish Rule!:headbang2:D Tnx for keeping these threads alive guys.
