That's quite the list of lessons learned!
I can keep going..... I just didn't want to bore anyone. I got bad cichlid combos for days!!! Plecos and Polypterus can be bad news too. The plecos suck on polys, the polys go thrashing around your tank disturbing everything.

My 2 year old JD gets along with everything from panda cories, goldfish, silver dollars, weather loach, betta's, dwarf rainbows, tiger barbs, convicts, ID shark, firemouths, severum, baby plecos, pretty much any fish I've put in with it except for the tiger oscar that was the same size. JD beat the crap out of the oscar. Oh and I had a midas in with the JD for a couple months but the midas started beating on the JD so I sold the midas.

I can't believe your JD leaves those smaller fish alone. Anyone else have an experience like that?

I kept a Black Piranna for 15 years before I lost him to a filter failure when I wasn't home. For 12 of those years his best buddy in the world was a female midus cichlid. The two paired up at about the same 9" size and remained close even after the black reached his eventual 24".

6-7" Green Arowana and a 4" Goliath Tiger Fish.. Nope
GTF was attacked within seconds of being released into the tank. It look as the the arowanas bony tongue pierced the GTF through the swim bladder. he died within minutes in a med tank.

A deadly Aro attack? Amazing! I knew they were capable. Looks like you need a bigger ATF to make that work.

Discus killed a pleco? I didn't think they could possibly harm an armored fish like that.
