Monster GATF!

How come everybody at MFK loves these fish so much yet I've never seen a member with one that's big at all? Do they die easily in captivity?

The reason you don't see many big one's in captivity is because most people don't know how to care for them. They don't like being moved around from one place to another. I have seen them turn over and die just from netting one. They also spook easily and many swim full speed into the side of a tank and die when frightened by outside movement or other fish inside the tank or when trying to net. They also are great jumpers and many are claimed by jumping outside the tank.

Best advise I can give you is to get one and keep it by itself in a very large tank that is sealed very well that has really good filtration with clean water. Get them to eat frozen food and they actually will start to settle down when they get about 12" or so. I raised one to 16" before one of my other fish scared it into the side of the tank and that was it. That's why I recommend having them in a tank by themselves.

This is an awesome fish to say the least. If I had the means, I would get a tank like Johnptc' s tank and have a couple of these bad boys inside. I think they would do great in a very very large tank like Johns.

I would like to see a yawning shot from this fish!

Dam...................He must be one Proud Mother ******! I'm so jealous right now  Props man! :)

Don't GATF's swim at the speed of light? Seems it would need a loooong tank. And coming from the Congo, also lots of current? Do you mind giving more details about the tank, filtration and it's diet too...thanks Hao.
