My personal record for killing a fish that I got home was about 5minutes. I opened the bag to start a floating bag acclimation, and a danio jumped out right into the waiting mouth of my cat at my feet which pretty much swallow it whole.
I'm so proud.
I bought a 3'' BGK that died in the bag on the way home. I returned it to the shop the next day and brought my replacement home. I went to pour some of the transport water out of the bag and woosh. out of the bag and down the drain he went.
Years later I was sorting some 3/4'' african cich fry in my old nurseries (before I realized the world in fact did not need more crappy psuedos lol) and was using one of my labeled-by-the-wife fish pitchers as a specimen cup with a bout 2'' of water in it. I was asked to do something by the wife and got distracted. For whatever reason, after I was done I decided to stop messing with my fish and started to "clean-up" and the first thing I did was empty the pitcher into the sink fish and all.
I realized what was about to happen during my arm swing when I felt the weight of the water in the pitcher. An instant before the water/fry went in the sink I remembered what was in the pitcher but momentum/inertia had set in and there was no way to stop the fry tsunami from going into the sink and I'll I could do was scream. Quite literally like a little girl.
I was so pissed. Some of the fry lost were the first I ever raised from stripped eggs.
