Small updates
Bobo is getting really big now, bulking up even more. Boss keeps growing in every direction except length (3D parrot, cubed). And Brick has new growth edges on his fins. The synos are a good size as well, though Cash is still bigger than Spot.
As a result of this with the new additions I'm cleaning the filtration pads 2-3 times a week. Bio filtration is fine, but the mechanical gets more attention now. Not a big deal really just a few minutes. The pads clean quickly with hot water. I fold and scrub the sides against each other to improve cleaning.
More remarkable is that Bobo still can't pace the Oscar...he gets bigger but so does Brick. Right now Brick's body width has caught up to his head. He hasn't shown a lot of interest in any more giant nightcrawlers, so I wait a few days and see. I gave one of the 'smaller' ones to Bobo, not sure if he could handle it. He struggled a bit but eventually got it down.
The
NWO community is getting along quite well now. A lot of interaction and shoaling. Bobo and Corn are bonding. The severum also gets along well with Boss too...they often eat together.
Pip has claimed Bobo's giant log
. The dinky HRP has set up shop over on Bobo's side as well. It's a hoot looking at him hovering inside the huge log. He shoots out to defend his home! The synos go in there as well. Pip refused to use the small log I put in there for him!
So it goes like this:
Bobo, Pip, Pepper, and Corn have their apartment on the 'south side'. (The chocolate continues to be a magnet for smaller fish)
Rocky and Jazz are in the 'central district'.
Brick and Boss have their apartment on the 'north side'.
Synos are freestyle, wherever they can go
Territory lines blur during the day. Whatever side Brick goes to the other fish go opposite (except Boss). Boss will take over the central at night and sleep there, running the acaras out. Brick sleeps north but may switch up. Bobo stays south when sleeping, as do Pip, Pepper and Corn. Boss is kind of a wild card and unpredictable. He may sleep central OR north. The synos will float upside down mid level.
Pepper and the acaras are freestyle explorers of the tank. Corn does it some but is wary of the Oscar and cautious of the parrot. Sometimes Boss puts him in his place. Even Boss and Bobo seem to have an uneasy 'truce'. I say uneasy because when my back is turned Bobo gets another messed up lip. But at least they swim around each other now. The new additions and Pepper have made Boss more social, and Brick less picky about food.
The same fish squabble and chase, but its mostly posturing. Will have pics when I can keep my phone powered up. A new one is in the works.
