More tank pics, updated

Haha I have the same problem lol. I always want to see my cichlids in their natural behavior and interactions with each other. But if I move the slightest bit, they all come running towards the top for food. That's why I stay super motionless whenever I watch my cichlids.

They're actually charging because they don't like me hanging around at that end of the tank! They're good if I go to the opposite side. Go figure! Brick is nosey. If I work above the tank he comes up top right under my arm. Sometimes I walk him back and forth across the tank. When he wants food he comes to the top and smacks his lips at me! The others will pop out of their hidey holes and watch me patiently while I fix their food.

I haven't figured out why my Oscar doesn't like me hanging around one end of the tank but not the other. He'll even ram the glass. So I pretend to duck and move away from the end and then he's ok. I can be in front of the tank working with no problem. If I'm just watching eventually Brick gets annoyed and I get the big cabbage head treatment with shaking and tail slapping. So I leave the room. That's gratitude for ya. :grinno:

Those pothos look absolutely amazing!
I wanted to ask how hardy are they in low nitrates and not much light?

You have to get them established first. I've got an old thread on how to do it:

Pothos in your tank, easy peasy | MonsterFishKeepers.com

With high bioload fish they'll get enough nutrients! Some fish like to eat/strip them, like severums and acaras. You'll lose some leaves for awhile before they grow. Vine pothos adapts faster and better than potted pothos.

The drama continues in Goon City. A few days ago my largest male hrp Hulk took a shot at Brick's tail. Hulk has a small area around and behind the large sponge filter. Sometimes he goes into one of the logs near the corner. Hulk's been a bit territorial lately and doesn't like intrusion on his space. Problem is the oscar goes where he wants.

Once Hulk made his cheap shot move Brick made his. The oscar sat by Hulk's space, blocking him in and daring the hrp to come out. He stuck his head in the log Hulk escaped to. This went on for 3 days. Hulk only dared come out when it was time to eat and Brick was occupied elsewhere.

So now Brick has re scaped the back to block everything. A boulder is shoved against the back of the log Hulk uses. There's a ramp of sand like a mountain making a wall to the side the nest of hrps use.

Brick's covered part of the air disc with sand and shoved it next to the log so now Hulk can't get in it at all. He's basically in jail until Brick decides to stop. The rules of the 225 are simple. Give the King his space and don't piss him off. (These rules don't apply to the bp Boss).

Speaking of which the two tank bosses had a minor squabble this morning. Brick had some kind of hissy fit, spinning and swirling water, body slapping the parrot. Boss just rode it out and bumped into the side of the oscar. And that was it. The unflappable Boss wasn't phased in the least by Brick's tantrum (the O is pretty cranky in the morning).

So on to some pics:

Hulk (lower left) basically in jail. Everything is piled up courtesy of Brick. He can't get in either end of his log. Its now a barricade. Jazz the opportunist wants to claim this area. She and Hulk square off. Boss is barely interested.
