Did a bit of tinkering with the main tank last night. There was a large portion of the top column of the tank none of the fish would use much. I figure the more space used the more territory for all. So I added a bit more replacement pothos vine and another vine making a 'bridge' across to the back of the tank under one of the filters. The reaction was interesting. The BP came out of his pot to check it out and patrolled his turf. The Sev swam under and around before darting off. My O cruised up slowly before hitting the brakes. The "eye roll" thing as he stared at the vine bridge. After determining everything was ok he promptly nestled underneath and snoozed for the night. So its had a positive effect. There's minimal fighting now anyway...anyone that wants to fight will have to work for it. Too many sight breaks and places to explore. Fight and you'll run into something. There's enough room to swim and explore but no easy lanes for fighting. Rex (Syno) disappears for stretches now. He's found a cozy spot near Boss' tree (the one the BP peeps out from). Sometimes I'll see his tail flick as he's skimming along the bottom. Territory continues to blur as everyone explores nooks and crannies. The "jungle" and the "glen" are still Boss and Brick primary turf, but the others can swim through and hang out at times. Since Chip is flat he can dart in and out of the tightest places if need be. He turned navy blue again last night, I almost wish he would stay that color...reminds me of midnight sun at dusk. For a so called 'green' severum I haven't seen any green yet!
Will take a couple of pics soon.
Boss (BP) decided not to eat breakfast yesterday and made up for it by eating everything in sight later. Too bad. This is what happens when you get picky. Eat, or wait until I get back from work. A small experiment I did with the pellets didn't work...called myself saving a bit of time during workweek by pre-soaking pellets overnight and putting in fridge. Then I'd warm them up. My fish didn't appreciate it...they made a mess and ate less. Even the severum spat out chunks. So maybe the pellets are less palatable when soaked too long and lose texture/flavor/odor. They acted like I fed them hospital food!
So its back to soaking pellets for 3 minutes, fresh in the bowl. I've started mixing pellets at a time.
